Lars Schaerer
Lars fell in love with the first version of Omnis 5 running on Windows 3.0 some 20 Years ago, when he needed software to run the System-House, he build up with his brother during the last 23 Years.
After finishing medschool, he went into psychiatric research and used Omnis to develop an automated forms data recognition solution for clinical research and acquired a PhD in medical informatics, specializing in clinical research databases.
Now his main project is a decision support system using a multiple heterogeneous client approach for data capture, Data mining and advanced statistical tools for analysis, and Omnis to integrate 'everything'.
This system has been used for several national surveys and international research projects, including international regulatory drug trials.
Session Info:
Data mining, or how to turn data into a (potential) goldmine
Over the last 30 years we have helped our customers to run their businesses with Omnis applications.
In the meantime, many of our customers have accumulated large amounts of data.
In this session you will learn how to turn this data into a (potential) gold mine - for the customer and for us - by helping the customer to extract decision supporting information out of this wealth of meaningful data describing their business.
From Market basket analysis, Fraud detection, Weather prediction, Industrial process automation, Drug monitoring, Customer profiling, Terrorist hunting, Genome scanning... there are already many successful fields of operation for data mining.
But still few people know of the existence of this technology and still few people have the broad skills required to successfully apply this technology.
In this session you will learn why omnis developers are in a privileged position to be successful in data mining and you will start acquiring the additional skills needed to provide valuable data mining solutions to your customers, inside and outside of your applications.
In the hands-on part of the session you will practice with industrial strength data mining tools. You might want to work with data from your application/customer (or use the demo database provided).
VM-Ware player required for the hands-on part of the session!!
